Study Skills
The Thinking Consultancy delivers three Study Skills programmes for students studying for their first degree, Masters Degree, PhD or equivalent. We also offer Personal Tuition and coaching for those studying for their GCSE’s or ‘A’ levels.
The courses are for younger students, mature students and those who want to develop the skills associated with Quantum Reading™. The programmes are ideal for those studying through distance learning.
Help with Exams
For school age children needing a pre-exam boost we offer up to three hours of one to one personal tuition. The tuition starts by developing skills in Mind Mapping and then, using the technique, moves on to teach exam strategies that:-
- boost confidence
- improve memory skills
- develop a career plan
The course content is varied to suit the individual and the tuition is run at the family home. Children can be joined by siblings or close friends.
Intermediate Study Skills programme
During the 3 days students will learn and apply the skills associated with Accelerated Reading, Quantum Reading™, Synoptic Reading, Memory Skills and Cognitive Mind Mapping.
Students can expect to have read and cognitively mind mapped 10 books during the 3 days.
Advanced programme
The advanced 5 day programme covers everything in the intermediate programme, in addition to inputs on:-
- time management
- goal setting
- prioritising
- relaxation techniques
- managing case studies
The Advanced programme is intended for students studying for their Masters, doctorate and similar. It is also for those seeking an Honours or First Class pass with their first degree.
A pre-course questionnaire is sent to those who enrol and from these we develop and adapt the programme to cover specified needs and requirements.
The pre-requisites for joining are mainly for guidance. Although we regularly have students enrol who pass everything with a ‘Distinction’ we also welcome those who may have struggled and want their future studies to be less stressful or fraught.
For personal tuition we welcome younger students who are in their mid teens. For the open courses we would prefer the youngest to be in their late teens.
For children still at school and studying for their GCSEs the consultancy will continue to give personal tuition. The sessions usually last for up to three hours.
The fee will be £500 but this will be reduced to £300 if the child lives close to Egham and as such the trainer travel time is under one hour each way.*
The fee includes all travel costs.
Please contact the consultancy if an overnight stay would be required.
For those studying ‘A’ levels or a higher qualification the consultancy will continue to give personal tuition in Study Skills to groups of one, two or three participants. The fee will be £1,000 per day plus expenses.*
For larger groups the fee will be £200 per person per day with a minimum invoice of £2,000 per day. The fee will be plus expenses.*
Paul Hobbs will personally run the programmes and he is always prepared to travel, including overseas, to be with his hosts.
*The consultant will be deregistered from VAT from 1st April 2013
